In November and December of 2012, MEGADETH blazed hot on the band’s “Countdown To Extinction 20th Anniversary Tour”, ripping through their entire double platinum 1992 album from start to finish before performing other classics from their recorded catalog. Recorded and filmed at Los Angeles’ Fox Theatre last December, “Countdown to Extinction: Live” is a definitive document of the acclaimed, sold-out tour.

In addition to MEGADETH’s blistering performance of the entire “Countdown To Extinction” album, including the essential “Symphony Of Destruction”, “Foreclosure Of A Dream”, “Sweating Bullets” and “Skin O’ My Teeth”, “Countdown to Extinction: Live” features all of the other MEGADETH classics the band performed at the epic concert, inc...

On BLACK SABBATH’s comeback album, “13”, reaching No. 1 album on the U.S. chart earlier this year:

Iommi: “We are very pleased. It’s just quite a shock to have our first No. 1 record (in the U.S.) after being around for 45 years.”

On why BLACK SABBATH’s 2001 attempt at a new studio album was unsuccessful:

Iommi: “It just wasn’t right. Nobody was on the right page. So, we abandoned the whole idea. But I always thought — or, at least, really hoped — we would do another album.”

On the Ronnie James Dio-fronted version of BLACK SABBATH recording and touring under the name HEAVEN & HELL:

Iommi: “I didn’t want to live on the BLACK SABBATH name with that lineup, because it stood for itself...

Corey Taylor

SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has a thing for ghosts, and he knows a lot about them. He should; he’s spent a great deal of time going around with ghost hunters, of varying degrees of competence and legitimacy, for his new book, entitled “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven (Or, How I Made Peace With The Paranormal And Stigmatized Zealots And Cynics In The Process)”. He’s basically a ghost hunter hunter.

“A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven” landed at No. 23 on the New York Times “Hardcover Nonfiction” best sellers list. That’s three positions higher than his first memoir, 2011’s “Seven Deadly Sins”, which debuted on the Times list at No. 26.

The Pulse Of Radio asked Taylor if he knew just how many copi...

The track was released in time for JANE’S ADDICTION’s co-headlining appearance at the fourth annual Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival, which kicked off on August 9 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

“Being that we have a tour, I’m really happy that we have a good song that will serve as our calling card when we hit various cities,” JANE’S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell tells RollingStone, com. “JANE’S is kind of known for long songs; being this is a one-song single, I thought it’d be interesting to try and write a BEATLES-esque short song that would be fast and furious and it would just be fun, dig it and move on, short attention span.”

In addition to JANE’S ADDICTION, Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival features ALICE IN CHAINS, COHEED AND CAMBRIA,...

RIOT To Release New Album In 2014

Long-running U.S. metallers RIOT will release an as-yet-untitled new album in 2014 via SPV/Steamhammer (in North America and Europe) and Avalon/Marquee (Asia). The band will enter the studio in December to begin recording its first studio CD without guitarist and founding member Mark Reale, who died in January 2012 in a San Antonio hospital due to complications of Crohn’s disease — an ailment he had battled for most of his life. He was 56 years old.

Although no decision has yet been made in the matter, RIOT bassist Donnie Van Stavern has revealed that the group’s new album may be issued under a different band name — presumably in recognition of the fact that Reale was RIOT’s only remaining original member prior to his passing.

RIOT...

AEROSMITH has canceled its two previously scheduled festival gigs in the Far East — Wednesday, August 21 in Shanghai and Saturday, August 24 in Taipei — due to the local promoters’ failure to “meet contractual obligations.”

AEROSMITH was supposed to make its Chinese live debut at the outdoor Shanghai Hongkou Stadium. The venue has a capacity of 25,000 people.

“We are extremely upset to have disappointed our dedicated fans,” says AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler in a statement. “They have welcomed us into their country, and due to uncontrollable circumstances, we will not be able to perform. We were so excited to share our music with them and look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve.”

“We’re disappointed a...
