After drummer John Bonham died on Sept. 25, 1980, effectively putting an end to Led Zeppelin, fans were hungry for more music.

Their last album, 1979’s ‘In Through the Out Door,’ marked a strong return after a three-year absence. But the band had broken up, and there wasn’t too much unused music sitting around, because Led Zeppelin didn’t waste much. Over the course of eight albums and 10 years, only one non-LP B-side (‘Hey Hey What Can I Do’) surfaced. And the few leftover tracks that they had in the can made up roughly half of 1975’s ‘Physical Graffiti.’

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones got together a couple of years later and combed their archives for leftovers...

The greatest-hits album the Rolling Stones released last year, ‘Grrr!,’ may have contained only two new songs, but there are plenty more where they came from. In a recent interview, bassist Darryl Jones says that those two tracks are just the tip of the iceberg.

“When I think back about the recording that I have done with them over the years, there is still a lot of stuff that no one has heard,” he said. “There is still a lot of very good stuff — ‘A Bigger Bang’ sessions going right back to ‘Voodoo Lounge,’ which was my first record. Everything that we recorded did not make it onto that record. There are some other really great pieces there.”

Jones — who joined the Stones in 1994 after having played with Miles Da...

Blue Öyster Cult – Goin’ Through The Motions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdBcA31kZ6k

Released in November of 1977 and remembered mostly for the classic ‘Godzilla,’ “Spectres” found Blue Oyster Cult trying to find their identity after finally hitting the big time.

Under the name the Stalk Forest Group, they recorded an LP for Elektra Records in 1970 which never saw the light of day until a few decades later. A name change to the equally mysterious Blue Oyster Cult and a signing to Columbia Records set the band on the right path.

They released their stunning debut album in 1972, which was quickly followed by the equally marvelous “Tyranny And Mutation” (1973) and “Secret Treaties” (1974)...

“Words cannot express how excited I am for the world to hear #RaisingHell,” says Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck via Twitter. “We haven’t just raised the bar, we’ve sent it into fucking orbit.”

Bullet For My Valentine drummer Michael “Moose” Thomas told Billboard.com in a recent interview that the band has “already started writing for the next album, which is completely different from this year’s ‘Temper Temper’.”

Japan’s experimental metal heroes Dir En Grey are currently touring North America, including a stop earlier this week at New York City’s Irving Plaza. With lead singer Kyo shrouded in shadows and scarves throughout the night, it made for a mysterious yet captivating evening.

Dir En Grey have evolved over the years, changing their look and their sound, but metal has always been at the core of their music. Kyo wide-ranging vocals are a sight to be heard (if that make any sense), as he weaves in and out of deep growls and falsetto squeals. All the while, guitarists Kaoru and Die play intricate yet powerful riffs while bassist Tohiya and drummer Shinya provide a pounding rhythm section.

Kyo commands the band’s devoted fans with a mesme...

10th Americana Music Association Honors And Awards - Show & Audience

Most people would think that, by now, Robert Plant has fulfilled all of his childhood dreams. However, he will make another one come true next year when he takes the field for Wolverhampton Wanderers, the soccer team he has supported since he was a boy.

Sportsmole reports that Plant will suit up for the team, commonly known as “Wolves,” at a testimonial match for defender Jody Craddock, who retired last year after a solid 20-year career, the last 10 of which were spent with Wolves. The rock legend, who serves as a vice president of the club, won the opportunity by bidding £900 at a dinner to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where Craddock’s son is being treated for leukemia. The event raised more than £8,000...

Disturbed – Stricken (Covered by Ben Draiman) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lzw6qNqQknc

Ben Draiman — younger brother of David Draiman of the famed rock group Disturbed and a singer in his own right — spoke to Rock Revolt magazine about his decision to release a cover version of the Disturbed song “Stricken”.

“The idea to cover ‘Stricken’ first came about when I was discussing successful covers with my friend and producer, Raz Klinghoffer, who had just released a cover of his own with his project Earlyrise,” Ben said. “He had said that some of the best covers are ones that change the song 180 degrees and that if I was going to do a slow cover best to choose a fast-paced song. I honestly didn’t think it would work.

“‘Stricken’ h...
