Blackgates — the East San Francisco Bay Area metal outfit featuring drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer, ex-Testament, Exodus, Forbidden) and guitarist Jeremy Von Epp (The Ventig Machine) — has been rejoined by former Anthrax singer Dan Nelson.

In a brand new interview with Greece’s Metal Kaoz, Bostaph was asked if he has any other projects going on besides his current full-time gig with Slayer. “I still have my other band, Blackgates,” he replied. “And we’re talking about, I mean, I haven’t had any time. Slayer is main priority, but if I have some free time, I’m gonna try to do a five- or six-song EP with Blackgates. We have our original singer back, Dan Nelson, so we’re really happy about that...

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has paid his respects to Lou Reed, the singer, songwriter and former The Velvet Underground frontman who died on Sunday (October 27) at the age of 71 from complications due to liver disease. Although Reed got a liver transplant last spring, the affliction could not be beaten despite continued treatment and Reed returned to Long Island to spend his final days at home.

Metallica collaborated with Reed in 2011 on the album “Lulu”, which was a commercial failure and widely panned by fans and critics.

Nevertheless, the disc was the last recorded work released by Reed, and the members of Metallica may have been the last musicians to work with him in the studio.

Speaking to Ben Beaumont-Thomas of The Guardian, Ul...

Roger Daltrey is clarifying comments made in London last week by Pete Townshend that The Who will perform a 50th anniversary world tour in 2015, which he said will be “the last big one for us.”

“I think you have to clarify what he said, and what we mean is we cannot keep going on doing these month-after-month, long, extended tours,” Daltrey tells Billboard. “It’s extremely hard, hard work, just the grind of it. So we have to be realistic. The band got better reviews on our last tour (the 2012-13 Quadrophenia & More trek) than we had for years. It was incredibly enjoyable. It was incredibly exhausting, and we have to be realistic about our age.”

“But it’s not going...

In the latest issue of Q, the four members of Metallica are grilled by the magazine’s readers about butt tattoos, catching fire onstage and why Lou Reed shouts in restaurants.

Asked if they were “Beliebers” now that pop singer Justin Bieber has publicly claimed that the Metallica songs “One” and “Fade To Black” were his “jams,” Metallica frontman James Hetfield said: “Are we Beliebers? Yes.” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich offered: “Is it possible to have respect for him without being a Belieber? I think the kid’s really talented and obviously to go through what he’s going through at that early age must be a mindfuck...

Sharon Osbourne has shot down rumors that her family’s reality show “The Osbournes” may be returning to the small screen.

Sharon and Ozzy’s son Jack revealed in a recent interview that he and his parents “have talked about” the possibility of resurrecting the MTV program, which aired from 2002 to 2005. “It’s been thrown around a little bit,” he said.

However, Sharon made it clear earlier today (Tuesday, October 29) on her talk show “The Talk” that any reports of “The Osbournes” coming back are “absolutely not true.” She added: “We could never touch what was.”

In a 2012 interview, Sharon stated about “The Osbournes”: “Our lives were never the same again. Everybody’s grown up with Ozzy, everybody loves Ozzy, but for us we were a family...

Due to a delay in the visa process, Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA have had to cancel their previously announced North American tour with UNEARTH, KATAKLYSM, DARK SERMON and ANCIIENTS. Attempts to make new arrangements for this time frame were not fruitful and the camp has determined to reschedule the tour for May 2014. All tickets will be refunded.

SEPULTURA’s new album, “The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart”, was released on October 25 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Although it was inspired by Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 movie “Metropolis”, “The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart” is not a concept album or a soundtrack like its precedessors “Dante XXI” (based on “The Divine Comedy”) and “A-Lex” (ba...

Megadeth bassist David Ellefson is sharing video of the unboxing of his new autobiography, “My Life With Deth”, which will be published on Tuesday.

The memoir chronicles the story of Ellefson’s fall into addiction during the band’s early years, followed by his subsequent recovery and the return to faith which championed the band’s rise to fame over the past several decades.

“My Life With Deth” was written with Joel McIver, and features a foreword by Alice Cooper; it also includes contributions from Kerry King (Slayer), Scott Ian (Anthax), Ellefson’s current bandmate in Megadeth, Shawn Drover, as well as forme...
