Anthrax say Jonathan Donais is the new full-time shredder for the band

After the departure of Rob Caggiano in January, Anthrax were left without a lead guitarist, but the band quickly tapped Shadows Fall axeman Jonathan Donais to fill the void. Now, after a successful trek headlining the 2013 Metal Alliance tour and a bunch of international shows, Anthrax’s Scott Ian has publicly stated that Donais is the new full-time shredder for the band.

Shortly after Rob Caggiano left Anthrax, the guitarist became a full-time member of Volbeat while producing that band’s 2013 full-length album, ‘Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies.’ Donais jumped on board to fill the vacant spot in February, and after over six months in the band, it seems that Donais will be a permanent fixture in Anthrax.

Bill Ward not in shape for Sabbath reunion album

Ozzy Osbourne says original drummer Bill Ward was not in shape for the band’s reunion album (“13”) or tour, despite the fact that he declined to participate over a contractual dispute.

I don’t think he had the stamina to play for an hour or so on stage. If I’d had a heart attack like Bill had, I’d go, ‘Fuck, I’m going to lose some weight.’ I train — I work my arse off. So you can’t expect someone who’s been sitting on their fucking arse, eating shit, to come along and go, ‘Equal split.’ It’s insane. I honestly don’t know what went down with that deal, but I suppose it’s something along those lines...
